CES 2013 is happening right now and I think the case can be made that hardware vendors are only just beginning to shows some flair and pizzazz with their designs.

In a new article, Paul shows us examples of lower priced laptops that are promoted in Best Buy’s advertising.

While the low pricing is interesting, the real thing that jumped out at me was just how dreary and boring the devices look.

I would argue that there are very few PC’s and Tablets running Windows 8 that can really justify a $1000 price tag based on looks and performance.

Compare that to the razor thin new iMacs.

Those just jump out at you and say “new, fresh, cutting edge”

It’s not a secret that the PC industry is in free fall right now and all the large vendors are scrambling to throw out different form factors out there.

Hopefully they are able to improve fast enough to avoid extinction.

Consumers know the difference between stale and fresh. Right now it seems like they think Apple and Google are fresh and different. Not my opinion, just the sales facts folks.
